Historic Mill Refurbishment
Our Client's key vision is to bring the mill back into working order for flour production and also as a heritage and tourist venue in South Lanarkshire. The outbuildings will be renovated for uses associated with the use of the mill as a visitor attraction, such as shop, toilets, workshop and self-catering accommodation. The existing house will also be refurbished and extended.
The renovation works to the buildings will employ best practice design concepts in conservation and ecological building systems. In use, to augment the level of thermal efficiency achieved through the renovation, renewable technologies and heating systems will be employed to ensure that the development operates on the basis of reduced energy use. Coupled with this, energy generation measures will also be investigated so that the buildings operate ‘off-grid’ as far as possible.
