Garden Room Extension
The multiple constraints imposed on the south facing rear portion of the lower Edwardian villa have been overcome to provide the open plan kitchen/dining/family space envisaged by the growing family. The projecting first floor extension, height restriction and the need for garden access from the side have not prevented the creation of the rear extension, which has been connected to the existing dining and kitchen by the removal of the majority of the walls to this area.
The extension is envisaged as a simple box, with the south-west corner angled to frame the view of the rear face of Arthurs Seat in the distance. The construction utilises a rendered woodfibre timber frame system to the walls and triple glazing to create an extremely low energy and breathable addition to the house.
