The extension is conceived as a simple symmetrical box, located on the mid-tier of the garden. As a whole, it is positioned centrally on the existing property, with its overall width defined by the existing window openings to either side. The garden room and linking steps provide a linear flow to the accommodation, accentuated by the two large rooflights and the stove centrally paced at the end of the main space.
The ancillary en-suite and utility rooms are integrated on the lower level of the extension, to either side of the steps. The form is broken up by a range of aperture types, to provide daylight, sunlight, views or access to the garden. The large corner windows, framed in zinc, are key features and are complimented by the deeply recessed narrow windows positioned within the render of the side wall.
