Preston House Gardens
The large two storey extension has been inserted in a complex situation, as an ‘L shape’ between the existing north gable of the house and garage. A new covered ramped entrance has been created at ground floor, as well as a utility and open plan, kitchen/ dining and living area which connects in with the existing accommodation. At first floor a new master suite has been provided with large en-suite and dressing room. The north-east corner of the extension is chamfered and recessed to pull the form away from the listed wall of the original walled garden in which the development is situated.
At first floor this forms a covered sitting area off the master bedroom with expansive views to the north. Aesthetically the new build retains the materials of the existing modern house, although the overall geometry of the extension with its string eaves lines, recessed terraces and eaves roof windows provides a thoroughly unique addition.
